EFSA and GMO decision making
Under the Food and Feed Regulation (1829/2003), the European Food Safety Authority, plays a central role in the assessment of GM crops and foods intended for marketing. GeneWatch UK is concerned that the manner in which this is undertaken does not acknowledge uncertainties in the science and assumptions that are made in how they determine the level of risk. Criticism has also come from member states over the way in which the EFSA conducts its risk assessment.
